The Quinn Award is a special award given in memory of Mrs. Joseph P. Quinn
Sr. who founded the Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross in
1917. The award is presented in recognition of the same spirit of giving to
our community that characterized our founder and in appreciation of
exceptional service to her chapter in our own time. All of our Quinn Award
recipients have made significant contributions to our local Red Cross. This
year is no exception.
We are very pleased to honor Shawn Dilks, Donald P. Heller, and David L.
Johnson, Esq. for their outstanding service as leadership volunteers. Each
has served three consecutive terms as a member of the board of directors,
for a combined total of 27 years. Each has served as board chairman and
each has made a very special personal contribution - in service delivery, in
fundraising, in community relations - that has greatly enhanced the ability
of the Sussex County Chapter to fulfill the mission of the American Red
Cross in our community, across the country, and around the world.
