This
year I want to . . .
A little help with your New
Year’s Resolutions from the
American Red Cross
NEWTON, NJ, December 31,
2008 – This year I want
to . . . improve myself,
give back, make a
difference, be more active
in my community, help
others, learn something new,
make my life more
meaningful. This list goes
on and on of the resolutions
we’ve all made over the
years. Let the Sussex County
Chapter of the American Red
Cross help you keep your
resolution in 2009. The
American Red Cross is a
humanitarian organization,
led by volunteers, that
provides relief to victims
of disasters and helps
people prevent, prepare for,
and respond to emergencies.
Whether you have a little
time or a lot there are many
ways to contribute to your
local Red Cross.
You can
improve yourself, give back,
be more active in your
community and learn
something new through the
American Red Cross. Have you
ever thought that by being
trained in First Aid and CPR
you could make a difference
in someone’s life (perhaps
even your own family) in the
event of an emergency? Did
you know that one pint of
blood provides up to three
people with the lifesaving
blood products they need?
Have you considered that
your monetary donation could
help a family displaced from
their home due to fire or
natural disaster by
assisting the Red Cross to
provide shelter, food and
clothing? Did you know the
Red Cross in Sussex County
provides support to military
families and provides
emergency messaging services
24 hours a day-7 days a
week? Or that they have
Disaster Action Teams on
call and ready to respond in
the community at all times?
Did you know the American
Red Cross, supports the
Measles Initiative - a
partnership with UNICEF,
CDC, United Nation
Foundation and the World
Health Organization
committed to reducing
measles deaths globally?
Whether
you support your local Red
Cross through a donation of
time, blood or money - you
are keeping your resolution
to make your community and
yourself better. Contact the
American Red Cross Sussex
County Chapter at

this year you can change a
life, starting with your
own.
The
American Red Cross is a
non-profit organization that
shelters, feeds and counsels
victims of disasters;
provides nearly half of the
nation's blood supply;
teaches lifesaving skills;
and supports military
members and their families.
The American Red Cross is a
non-profit organization, not
a government agency, and
depends on volunteers and
the generosity of the
American public to perform
its humanitarian mission.
