American Red Cross Babysitter Training and Course Schedule

Newton, NJ, July 20, 2011 — What you need to know and what every parent wants in a safe and responsible babysitter can be learned through the American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training course on Thursday, August 25th from 9:00am to 3:30pm at the Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross in Newton.  The fee for this course is $85.00 and includes all course materials, supplies a certification card, and a portfolio style first aid/safety kit.  This portfolio makes it easy for sitters to carry important information “on the job” providing an easy to find location for important phone numbers or notes that a responsible babysitter would want on hand.

Designed for 11 to 15 year olds, the Babysitter’s Training course can help you learn how to:

  • Care for children and infants.

  • Be a good leader and role model.

  • Make good decisions and solve problems.

  • Keep the children you baby-sit and yourself safe

  • Handle emergencies such as injuries, illnesses and household accidents.

  • Write resumes and interview for jobs.

  • And much more!

The Babysitter’s Training course has a unique interactive, educational format that tasks youth, ages 11 to 15 years of age, with activities such as identifying safety problems around the house and yard and selecting age-appropriate toys and games for children in their care.  Participants learn by doing.  This format, along with the course video and an enthusiastic instructor, keeps the interest of the babysitters and provides a meaningful classroom experience!
