2011 Quinn Dinner Honorees

Newton, NJ, July 21, 2011 — The Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross is preparing for their most important fundraising event of the year.  The 2011 Mrs. Joseph P. Quinn Sr. Award Celebration will be held at Perona Farms in Andover the evening of Friday, October 14th.  The Quinn Award is a special award given in memory of Mrs. Joseph P. Quinn Sr. who founded the Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross in 1917.  It is presented in recognition of the same spirit of giving to our community that characterized the founder and in appreciation of exceptional service to ‘her chapter’ in our own time.  The Quinn Award Celebration is the chapter’s premier special event and helps fund a host of critical services and lifesaving programs.

All Quinn Award recipients have made significant contributions to our local Red Cross and our community.  Given annually, this is the local chapter’s highest award.  Last year’s Quinn Award recipients, Mrs. Nancy Caragher, Chair of Volunteers and Robert B. Nicholson, III, President & CEO of Eastern Propane are expected to present this year’s award.  2011 Quinn Award Honorees, Ms. Shawn Dilks, of ClearChannel Radio; Donald P. Heller, Retired Selective Insurance Executive and MDS attorney, David L. Johnson, three exceptional volunteers, each of whom have contributed significantly in their role as Board Members of the American Red Cross.  All three honorees have served as Board Chair of the Sussex County Chapter at one point during their tenure.

Cocktail hour begins at 6:30 p.m. with an open bar the first hour and elegant chamber music provided by Encore! String Quartet.  Dinner and dancing follow at 7:30 p.m. This year’s event also features music by M.C. Ricky G.; and an exciting silent auction.  For additional information on supporting these very special honorees and the American Red Cross, please contact the chapter office at 973-579-1600 weekdays.

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation's blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families.  The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.  For more information, please visit www.redcross.org or call 800-RED-CROSS.
