Chapter of the American Red Cross is preparing for their most important
fundraising event of the year. The 2011 Mrs. Joseph P. Quinn Sr. Award
Celebration will be held at Perona Farms in Andover the evening of
Friday, October 14th. The Quinn Award is a special award given in
memory of Mrs. Joseph P. Quinn Sr. who founded the Sussex County Chapter
of the American Red Cross in 1917. It is presented in recognition of
the same spirit of giving to our community that characterized the
founder and in appreciation of exceptional service to ‘her chapter’ in
our own time. The Quinn Award Celebration is the chapter’s premier
special event and helps fund a host of critical services and lifesaving
programs.
All Quinn Award recipients have made significant
contributions to our local Red Cross and our community. Given annually,
this is the local chapter’s highest award. Last year’s Quinn Award

nation's blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international
humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The
