Be Red Cross Ready
Free Training Program Available to Help Community Be Prepared
NEWTON, NJ, November 16, 2009 — If there was something you could do to protect your school, place of worship, office or club, - help save time and money, - and help create a stronger community, would you do it? As Sussex County’s partner in disaster preparedness and response, the American Red Cross knows from experience that people who prepare ahead of time can do just that! But while 96% of Americans agree that it’s important to prepare for a disaster, only 7% have taken the necessary steps to do so according to recent American Red Cross polls. The Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross is encouraging everyone to take three simple actions to get “Red Cross Ready” for disasters and other emergencies: 1) Get a kit, 2) Make a plan and 3) Be informed.
“Be Red Cross Ready”, a one hour program (including time for questions/answers) explains the three basic preparedness actions that can better prepare you for a variety of disasters, from a power outage to a hurricane! The program can be presented at your location or at Red Cross Headquarters on Spring Street in Newton. Contact Lauri at 973-579-1600 to schedule today!
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation's blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
