Downtown Newton Blood Drive
Give Blood – Help meet the need in Sussex County.
Newton, September 25, 2009 – The Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross is issuing an appeal for blood donors to give the “gift of life”! Visit downtown Newton on October 5th for the Blood Drive, from 12:30 to 6:00 pm at 93 Spring Street, Newton. Each pint of blood collected helps as many as three people!
Eligible donors include those people at least age 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds, and are in good health. When donating blood, plan to spend at least one hour for registration, donation and a short rest period after donation. Eat well within three hours prior to donating and drink plenty of fluids! Sixteen year olds are eligible to donate blood with parent/guardian consent. A copy of the required consent form can be found on the chapters’ website. Inquiries are also welcomed from organizations who would like to schedule an emergency blood drive. For additional information on this and other Red Cross programs visit www.sussexredcross.org or call 973-579-1600.
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation's blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
