Students Train
to be Red Cross Leaders!

Newton,
January 22, 2009 – The Sussex
County Chapter of the American Red
Cross proudly acknowledges the 22
students who took time out from
their three day Martin Luther King
holiday weekend to learn how to
become Leaders/Presenters of
American Red Cross programs! Chapter
volunteers, Jackie Cascio and
Danielle Cascio trained the students
on presenting Scrubby Bear and
WHALES Tales programs. Scrubby Bear
is a personal hygiene presentation
designed to teach children that
infection and illness can be
combated through frequent hand
washing. WHALES Tales teaches
children about safe behaviors in, on
and around the water in a class room
setting. Both programs are designed
to be instructed to children from
pre-school to first grade.
Students in
attendance included many members
from Newton High School’s Red Cross
Club as well as two Boy Scouts from
Troop 150 in Sparta. If you are a
teacher who would like to have the
students come present this program
to your class please contact Lauren
at 973-579-1600 or email
