Plan for Presidents Weekend - Enroll in Red Cross Babysitter’s Training Now

Newton, NJ,  January 27, 2010 – What you need to know and what every parent wants in a safe and responsible babysitter can be learned through the American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training course on February 15th and 16th  from 1:00 to 4:30 both days. The fee for this course is $65. (If you are an immediate family member of a veteran or military service member you may qualify to take this training at no cost to you). Designed for 11 to 15 year olds, the Babysitter’s Training course can help you learn how to -

  • Care for children and infants.

  • Be a good leader and role model.

  • Make good decisions and solve problems.

  • Keep the children you baby-sit and yourself safe

  • Handle emergencies such as injuries, illnesses and household accidents.

  • Write resumes and interview for jobs.

  • And much more!

The Babysitter’s Training course has a unique interactive, educational format that tasks youth, ages 11 - 15 years of age, with activities such as identifying safety problems around the house and yard and selecting age-appropriate toys and games for children in their care. Participants learn by doing. This format, along with the course video and an enthusiastic instructor, keeps the interest of the babysitters and provides a meaningful classroom experience!

For an additional $12, a portfolio style first aid/safety kit that easily fits the babysitter training book is available. This portfolio makes it easy for sitters to carry important information “on the job” providing an easy to find location for important phone numbers or notes that a responsible babysitter would want on hand. There is a limited supply of these, but they are excellent resources for babysitters to have and bring along with them while babysitting.  These can be purchased at the time of your registration or the day of the class.
