Red Cross Reminds Lifeguards to register for Recertification!

Newton, NJ, March 9, 2011 – The Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross wants to ensure your lifeguard certification is current before the spring rush to register for recertification classes begins.  Employers will want to ensure your skills have been refreshed, and American Red Cross Lifeguarding offers the highest quality training standards in skill instruction, professional lifeguard responsibilities, first aid and CPR/AED training. Your local Red Cross is offering recertification training on Saturday, March 26th from 8:30am to 12:30pm, on Thursday, April 7th from 6:00pm to 10:00pm, and Tuesday, April 26th from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Recertification in CPR for the Professional Rescuer is designed for any individual who has a duty to respond to emergencies.  Topics include recognizing and responding to breathing and cardiac emergencies, two-rescuer CPR techniques for drowning and other special situations, using resuscitation and bag-valve masks, use of an AED for a victim of sudden cardiac arrest and using an AED when CPR is already in progress. The fee for the class is $50 and participants must have their own pocket mask.

Other upcoming classes include:

The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
