Newton, NJ, March
10, 2011 – Join
the American Red
Cross as they host
the Gabrielle
Giffords Honorary
Save-a-Life Saturday
on March 19, 2011.
The events that
unfolded in Arizona
earlier this year
reminded the nation
of the importance of
being prepared in
the event of an
emergency. Many of
the bystanders knew
CPR and first aid
and were able to
save the lives of
several victims,
including
Congresswoman
Gabrielle Giffords,
who received help
from her intern
Daniel Hernandez.
On March 19th, in
more than 100
locations across the
nation, the Red
Cross will provide
fast and easy
classes to teach the
basics of hands-only
CPR, the treatment
of shock and how to
treat wounds. The
classes will be
shortened versions
of Red Cross
training courses,
lasting
approximately 45
minutes to one hour
and offered multiple
times during the
day.
Best of all, the
courses are being
offered free of
charge through the
generosity of
American Red Cross
sponsors; Safeway
and Walgreens.
Northern NJ
residents can attend
one of three
sessions being held
at West Orange High
School in the
Tarnoff Cafeteria at
51 Conforti Avenue
in West Orange, NJ
07052.
The March 19th
training sessions
will introduce
participants to
training in hands
only CPR,
controlling external
bleeding and
managing shock.
Program times are
9:00am, 10:30am, and
12:00pm. To take
part in this
valuable training
register with the
Northern New Jersey
Chapter at
www.redcrossnnj.org
(registration is
required).
