Newton, NJ, March 13, 2009 – During “March is American Red Cross Month” several county libraries have donated space to the American Red Cross to display memorabilia or information from the local Red Cross about the chapters many lines of service. Displays can be seen at the Main Library in Newton and at the following branches: Sussex-Wantage in Wantage, Louise Childs in Stanhope, Dorothy Henry in Vernon and the Franklin Branch in Franklin. Please visit one of the branches to learn more about your American Red Cross!

You can expect to find information about the American Red Cross’ service to the military which currently includes a presentation called “Get to Us Before you Need Us” for military members and their families. The Sussex Chapter of the American Red Cross currently offers a support group for military families that meets monthly, as well as scholarships for Red Cross Training classes to military family members for First Aid, CPR/AED, Babysitters Training and Pet First Aid!

Through the displays you can also learn about Health and Safety classes, Blood Donation, Red Cross School Clubs, Disaster Services, volunteering and their current fundraising campaign – “Heroes for the American Red Cross”. It’s not too late to participate in this critical event – contact the Sussex County Chapter to find out how!

The American Red Cross is a non-profit organization that shelters, feeds and counsels victims of disasters; provides nearly half of the nation's blood supply; teaches lifesaving skills; and supports military members and their families. The American Red Cross is a non-profit organization, not a government agency, and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its humanitarian mission. Visit the Sussex County chapter of the American Red Cross at www.sussexredcross.org or contact 973-579-1600.
