Newton, NJ, March 23, 2009 – Several bus drivers of the First Student Bus Company in Andover, NJ have teamed up to become a “Hero for the American Red Cross”. Heroes pledge to raise $1000 for their local Red Cross chapter. Heroes can raise the money by any legal means. The employees of First Student have scheduled a garage sale and bake sale for April 4th to be held at the bus company. Anyone can drop off donations for the garage sale between now and the April 4th at the Route 206 bus company location. In addition they will be putting out 25 collection cans throughout the community to collect contributions for the sale. All proceeds will go to the Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
This is another example of how the Heroes Campaign generates excitement and creativity in people. “Heroes from all around the county have been selling paper Red Crosses; raising money on-line, hosting cookie sales, ice cream socials, pizza lunches, silent auctions, and even a psychic fair” said Pat Day, Executive Director. “The residents of Knoll Heights in Sparta are donating the proceeds of bake sales and movie nights to the chapter. I remember a few years back, Knoll Heights had to be evacuated and the chapter was there to assist the residents until they could return to their homes. It is heartwarming to see that the residents are now helping us”, Day concluded.
