Your help is needed to
support the work of your local Red Cross. Please consider volunteering a few hours of your free
time.
The Sussex County Chapter of the
American Red Cross relies on volunteers to support the
great variety of programs and services offered to Sussex
County residents. Our volunteers are a dedicated group
of individuals we consider stars. Their skills and
commitment are truly valued in our organization.
The next volunteer
orientation session is scheduled for Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at
7:00pm.
A personal interview is required prior to orientation.

Health and Safety Instructor
Volunteers teach health and safety skills to adults,
youth and community groups. Classes are continually
created, expanded and updated to meet community needs.
Disaster Action Team Member
Provides emergency assistance directly or indirectly
to persons affected by disaster. Responds to disaster
scenes and other emergencies to offer assistance to
those affected by the incident.
Special Events Volunteer
Volunteers help during special fundraising events,
such as the semi-annual Coin Collection or Red Cross
Night at the Skyhawks Ball Park.
Community Education Volunteer
Present educational programs to grade school
children about topics such as water safety, hand washing
and fire safety.
Chapter Support Aide
Volunteers help the chapter to run smoothly by
answering telephones; registering people for classes;
assisting with mailings; data entry and providing
clerical assistance.

Red Cross Volunteers Receive Free Training
to Teach Responsible Babysitter
Training to Local Youth
The
American Red Cross Sussex County Chapter teaches local
youth ages 11-15 important information and lifesaving
skills needed to become Responsible Babysitters. But we
need your help! Volunteer instructors are needed to
deliver Responsible Babysitter Training in middle
schools throughout Sussex County. The course is
generally offered in three 2-hour sessions weekdays
right after school from 4-6pm or on Saturdays from
9am-4pm. Free instructor training will be provided as
well as free training in First Aid and CPR. No prior
teaching experience is required. However, a commitment
to excellence is important!
Volunteers are also needed to assist
in the office weekdays anytime between 8:30am and 4:30pm
to help with a variety of activities, including:
providing clerical support; data entry; assisting with
mailings; setting up course materials and/or filing.
Even if you work full-time during the
day, you can become a valued Red Cross volunteer. The
Red Cross operates 24-hours-a-day, 365-days-a-year and
therefore, volunteers are needed anytime. Free training
is provided! Make a commitment now to share your time
and talent to support your local Red Cross and the
people of Sussex County. You’ll be glad you did!
