COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

Water Safety Instructor provides instructor candidates the training needed to teach courses in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety Program by developing their understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participants' progress.

Learn to Swim - Red Cross swimming lessons are given at the Sussex County Vo-Tech; Kittatinny Regional High School; local state parks and camps, as well as other facilities throughout the county.

Guardstart: Lifeguarding Tomorrow - Help 11- to 14-year olds get a successful jump start into Red Cross lifeguarding. Offered at various locations throughout the county.

Lifeguarding - Learn the skills and techniques you need to become a member of the lifeguard team.  Offered at various locations throughout the county.

Longfellow's WHALE Tales - Make water safety for 5- to 12-year olds fun and easy to learn! Longfellow, the animated whale, appears throughout lesson plans, color posters, worksheets, activities, and a video to teach about safe behavior in and around water.

Waddles Presents Aquatic Safety - Waddles the duck and Hatch the alligator take children through a series of activities designed to reinforce basic safety messages and skills. Designed as part of the Learn to Swim program, this colorful activity book includes a removable poster, postcard, and color stickers to make learning more memorable and fun.
